SETUP

========================================================
To join in on races you will need either an emulator or a game capture card. The above tutorials are a step by step tutorial on how to get emulators running on you PC. If you can't follow this video you are either very lazy or very stupid and should not consider breeding (assuming you know how).
To answer any stupid questions; yes the websites used in the video are safe and no they do not contain viruses otherwise none of us would be doing this stuff.
Even basic laptops can run an emulator, but bear in mind that you will need a somewhat capable machine to join in our races as we will be using multiple demanding applications at once. Below are the recommended specs
Minimum Specs
Intel i3 Quad Core or equivalent
4gb Ram
Intel HD Graphics Card
A Mic (Essential)
Earphones/Headphones (Essential)
The ability to press buttons
Recommended Specs
Intel i5 Quad Core (equivalent or Above)
8gb+ Ram
Nvidia GTX 600 series or AMD Equivalent (less lagging and frame drops)
A DECENT MIC (We don't want to hear heavy breathing or how Trained Professional sounded on the Crash 1 Race!)
Headphones
A Gaming Pad
A good sense of humor
To check your system specs hit run and type in " dxdiag "
SKYPE (Essential)
We currently communicate primarily through Skype (yes we know Team Speak is better). Get Skype, add people, and don't be an asshole.
MUMBLE AND DISCORD (Coming Soon)
Mumble is like SKYPE (or more specifically TeamSpeak) in that it can be used for communication, Whilst normal shennanigans will still be present on SKYPE, we are looking at moving our recording sessions to be active through a mumble server hosted by a friend on SA. Install Mumble, but I have agreed to not publicly release the server details, so you will need to ask Manic for them directly.
Alternatively, I recommend Discord as a great, free, teamspeak programme.
RECORDING SOFTWARE
My personal recommendation is OBS, but feel free to use Fraps or any other software that works for you.
You will also need an audio recorder, again I prefer Audacity, but you can use your own software.

WEBSITE CONDITIONS
1. Membership to our website is free. This means you can make an account, post on the forums, and explore our content. You are not technically a member of our community without first buying a membership package. 2. The site is free and we welcome your comments on the forums, but that does not necessarily mean you're free to say whatever the hell you want. 3. If you troll our site or our members, you will be banned without hesitation. 4. Don't spam us, or post links to infected sites, or places of illegal content. 5. Ask yourself, "Do I sound like a prick (EU) / Jerk (US)?" If the answer is yes.... do us all a favour and leave our site. 6. If you have purchased a membership package, that does not mean you are exempt from our rules. Breaking our rules may still mean that you will be banned, and no, there will be no refund. 7. If you follow the above rules, then by all means, contribute to our site, and people will love you for it. RECORDING ETIQUETTE 1. Don't say you want to be in a race or recording if you really don't want to. 2. If you say you're available at a certain time, be there at that time. 3. Don't overly practice a game before a race. It's much more entertaining if at least some people have to work stuff out. 4. Races should not last longer than 4 hours as no one wants to watch a 4 hour video where the last guy is stuck fighting Tiny and clearly won't finish! The recommended race time should be 1-2 and a half hours. 5. Games to race are either picked by Admins as their choice of game or are nominated by the full community members and voted on. By all means, full members can nominate a game, just not one that was done very recently or something stupid like Candy Crush. 6. Yes you can drink alcohol during races, but avoid loud snacks. 7. Record in a quiet location. 8. Don't take winning or losing seriously, there are worse things that can happen. Like erectile dysfunction. 9. It is ok to DNF! Elektric Paradox does it all the time. Now that we've agreed on the etiquette of the races, these are recording guidelines to make life easy for the editor. 1. Ensure the Emulator is in windowed mode at an aspect ratio of 4:3 (e.g. 640 x 480). 2. Make sure your recording software is set to the exact same Aspect Ratio as your Emulator. 3. Turn your game music down! If in doubt, mute the fucker. 4. Always test out your recording software before a race. 5. Ensure your audio recorder is just picking up your voice and not anyone or anything else. 6. Save/Export your video and Audio recording as MP4 and Wav files. 7. If using FRAPS, compress and encode your video. I don't think you want to be sending me a 50 gb file. 8. Send your files to the designated editor preferably within a week of the race finishing. You can use google drive, dropbox or fly to their house if absolutely necessary. 9. All races start with an audio sync for the editor, so please for the love of Awfulness, just follow the instructions. There may also be a movement sync to ensure everyone's videos line up. 10. Races begin when the host says 3, 2, 1, Go! 11. Races End when a goal has been met, everyone finishes, or the remaining runners have lost the will to live. 12. If you finish the game or the race is over please say "Stopping Recording in 3, 2 ,1. Equally, if you start playing a different game after you finish and wish for it to be included in the video, then say Starting New Recording in 3, 2, 1. It really helps keep people's audio in time with their sync! 13. If you stop the recording on Audacity, do not bother starting any new recording. Once audacity stops, you're done recording. 14. Just because you have sent your file to the editor; do not delete the file off of your computer until the race is published in case there are any complications. |
The Tools section is more for Editors. Only bother reading this if you intend to help out in the editing phase.
Recording Software OBS FRAPS DXTORY Audio Captures Audacity DO NOT USE SOUND RECORDER! Other Programmes SKYPE Discord (optional) Mumble (optional) Kik App (optional) Google Drive (preferably) SkyDrive/OneDrive/Dropbox (otherwise) Handbrake Xmedia Recode VoiceMeeter Editing Software If you want to edit videos for the channel, then unless the video is already perfect, do not use Windows Movie Maker. If you do not own any high quality editing software, either use trials or don't bother editing. SONY VEGAS You can get multiple free trials by downloading different versions of Sony Vegas. It is one of the best editing programmes out there and fairly easy to learn. ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS Videos can be editied in After Effects, but AE is one of the more difficult programmes to use and is more for specific special effects or creating Animations. ADOBE PREMIER PRO A good alternative to SV and better for project editing that AE. Cyberlink Power Director A much more basic piece of software, but it is far cheaper and can do most of the things you have seen in our previous races. AviSynth A great free piece of editing software; however it's usage requires one to be adept in coding. The programe and user manuel can be found here. Image Editing Unless you can afford Adobe Photoshop, use GIMP. Do not use fucking Paint. Need help editing? Well... I know a guy that will help you for sure |
Membership termsWHY DO WE CHARGE?
Whilst general membership to our community is free and we will treat non-premium members with equal respect, we feel it is necessary to charge people who want to create content in our community as a small declaration of your sincerity. The money is not for profit as we will be making absolutely no profit - it will all be invested into the channel (upgrading equipment etc.). By paying a membership fee, you are showing a commitment to the community and therefore it will act as a deterrent for trolls and uninterested people from infiltrating the creative levels of our group. Being a paid Premium Member costs just a one off $7! And whilst that may seem a lot, it really isn't. We feel you will get your money worth in hours of entertainment, a free editor, and a very cheap hobby (especially with the potential return of free steam games!). Also, the usual route for accessing this community of over 100 members is through a separate website (SA) that costs $10, so we are offering a cheaper alternative. Memberships are non-refundable, so don't give us any reason to ban you! See here for memberships: /store/c1/Featured_Products.html Want to upload your own content?*PREMIUM MEMBERS ONLY*
The races are not the only things we upload to our community channels. If you want to create your own playlist, videos, or other content, contact an Admin and run your idea past them. Only Admins/Founders have the ability to upload to the channel so you will need to get your shit to them. If an Admin thinks your idea sucks, don't complain, just put it on your own channel. Premium Membership gives you the right to upload content only if it meets good standards and doesn't stray too far away from our current content scope. |
